We held a ‘Travel Show’ on Saturday 12th October 2019 at our local golf club in Chobham. It was a wonderful day with over 60 people attending and they got to spend quality time with just a small handful of some of our wonderful suppliers we work closely with discussing future holiday plans.

TOP DESTINATIONS FOR 2019

It’s that time of year when we start thinking ahead – and when the new year arrives, often the most important thing on the agenda is getting your next holiday secured. It certainly helps with the January blues, doesn’t it?

To give you some inspiration on where the year could take you, we’ve listed the destinations tipped to be the places to go for in 2019 – perhaps it’ll help you decide where to discover next!

SRI LANKA

The pearl of the Indian Ocean is certainly having its moment! Far more reasonably priced than neighbouring Indian Ocean holiday hot-spots, the destination offers an affordable getaway that differs from the norm. Whether you’re an intrepid traveller wanting to get stuck into the local culture or being pampered in a beach resort is more your style, it’s all possible here. The hospitality will impress you too – you won’t have to do a thing!

Don’t forget the incredible wildlife either – there are elephant sanctuary’s to visit and a whopping 22 gorgeous national parks to explore!

When to go? Sri Lanka varies depending on what side of the country you choose to visit.If you’re heading to the west coast, we recommend you visit between December and March. But if it’s the east coast you’d like to get to know, then it’s best to take your trip between April and September.

JORDAN

With a population of just 10million, Jordan is often discounted as a holiday hotspot. But just a five-hour flight from the UK, this destination will surprise you with how much it has to offer. Petra, one of the 7 New Wonders of the World is a must-see while you’re here – the historical and archaeological city dates back as far as 213 BC! In fact, it’s known as one of the world’s most treasured UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Jordan’s hospitality is top-notch too. There are plenty of incredible hotels and resorts, with delicious authentic cuisine and lots of opportunities to be pampered. You’ll be treated like royalty! To put your minds at rest, Jordan remains comfortably sheltered from the troubles within the region, so you’ll be safe on your holiday here.

When to go? Despite Jordan’s small size, you’ll find wide variations of climate – often because some regions are high above sea level. The best time to visit is in the spring and autumn, when temperatures are toasty but not scorching. Opt for the spring and you’ll see gorgeous wildflowers everywhere!

MONTENEGRO

Imagine Greece’s ancient cities, the tranquil emerald beaches in Croatia and Switzerland’s picturesque snow-capped peaks. Roll them all into one and you’ve got Montenegro. Ask anyone who’s been (which isn’t many, as it’s one of the up-and-coming destinations for 2019) and they’ll tell you it’s a land of paradise… and cheaper than most other European holiday destinations too, including neighbouring Croatia.

Whether you want to party, relax by the beach or try delicious cuisine day after day, this tiny country offers it all – and it’s only a few hours away. So, our advice would be to get there before everyone else does.

When to go? For guaranteed sun, we recommend visiting between May and early October. But for an extra special experience, head here in June or September as you’ll have more space to enjoy the surroundings for yourself.

PANAMA

Forget Costa Rica, it’s Panama’s time for the limelight. This is a destination where tropical biodiversity meets white sandy beaches and misty highlands are combined with an indigenous culture. How it’s still under the radar, we have no idea. It’s a destination full of character and history, which will keep you busy day after day. But why go in 2019? Well, Panama has pledged to party like never before in 2019 to celebrate Panama City’s 500-year anniversary – you won’t want to miss it!

When to go? Panama has a tropical climate with a hot, humid rainy season between May and December and a dry season from January to April – the recommended time to go.

SINGAPORE

Super sleek and modern Singapore is full of flash shops and luxury hotels, but look a little deeper and you’ll find some cultural delights too! Hawker Centres is a great example – and there are hundreds of them. These authentic gems are the perfect place to open your eyes to local life in Singapore… and even better, you can get a delicious meal for under $10!

For those in search of something a little more luxurious, 2019 brings the re-opening of Singapore’s most renowned hotel, Raffles. Whether you want to splash the cash and book your stay there or just visit their bar for a famous Singapore Sling cocktail, it’s worth it. Also joining the long list of luxury hotels in December 2018 is Six Senses Maxwell, so by 2019 it’ll be ripe and ready for those in search of plush accommodation or a post-sightseeing drink in their sleek and sexy bar.

When to go? If avoiding the wet weather’s important to you, then book your visit for June, July or August – but there’s plenty to see and do in Singapore all year around, including festivals and indoor activities. So, whenever you go, you’ll be entertained!

Northern Spain Educational

After arriving on a very short and direct flight from Heathrow into Bilbao, Susan was taken off to visit the delightful Palacio Urgoiti Parador. This would make for an excellent choice if you were arriving late or leaving early. Stunning gardens and gourmet restaurant. After this, the group were taken to Bilbao with a visit to the Guggenheim Museum to explore the arts followed by a walking tour of the old town sampling the famous Pintxos bars.

From here they headed to San Sebastian. This town frequently tops lists of the world’s best places to eat (of which a few were sampled). A visit here to the Gastronomic Society was a treat.

The final destination was the internationally renowned ‘Pamplona’ which is holds it’s annual ‘Running of the bull’ festival every July. A visit to ‘Olite’ which is a historic castle and hosts a classical theatre festival in the Summer and also to the ‘Leyre’ Monastery which is one of the most important in Spain.

California 2014

San Francisco is one of the world’s most attractive and vibrant cities with so much on offer . We saw the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, took a guided tour of the infamous ‘Alcatraz’, hired out ‘Go Cars’ to see the sights (which was great fun), sampled the local ‘crab’ at Fisherman’s Wharf and wandered down Lombard Street.

Our second stop was ‘Hollywood’ walking in the steps of the rich and famous!! Here we did the usual touristy things, Walk of Fame, Handprints at the Chinese Theatre, Drove to Beverley Hills and walked the famous Rodeo Drive along with seeing the ‘Hollywood sign’ from the Griffith Observatory. Our stop here was finished nicely with a visit to Universal Studios and Citywalk. I can highly recommend the front of line passes which were well worth the extra ( we never had to queue at any point!!)

The last leg of our Californian vacation was to the amazing beach resort of Santa Monica. We rented bikes (which were plentiful) and rode along to Venice Beach stopping along the way at a beach café (just bliss), enjoyed the rides on Santa Monica Pier, sampled some of the amazing restaurants on offer and of course, a touch of retail therapy on 3rd Street Promenade.

Northern Territories & South Australia

In the tropical Top End, we strolled through Darwin’s vibrant Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, swam under natural waterfalls in Litchfield National Park, viewed the ancient rock art of Ubirr with spectacular views over the floodplains and watched crocodiles in their natural habitat in Kakadu National Park. After a cruise through the beautiful Katherine Gorge the group got to experience true outback spirit and Aboriginal culture.

In South Australia, we sampled fine wines in Claire Valley’s cellar doors and cycled along the Riesling trail. We then continued on to the Flinders Ranges where we spotted dozens of kangaroos and even an echidna. The trip culminated with a scenic flight over the majestic Wilpena Pound and an endless feast in one of Adelaide’s many modern and buzzing restaurants.

Halkidiki with Pat

12th September 2013 – After an early flight from Gatwick with Easyjet, we arrived at Thessaloniki on time. We collected our hire car and drove to the Elegant 5* Danai Beach Resort & Villas in Halkidiki – helped along the way with our Sat Nav which we had taken with us.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome drink and were then shown to our Suite with its own private pool. We spent 4 nights at this beautiful hotel which has just 55 suites and 5 villas. Lovely sandy beach with well spaced loungers and umbrellas. 3 restaurants – Not to be missed is a romantic candlelit dinner on the beach.

Opinion. A really luxurious, elegant, calm and peaceful hotel. Member of the Leading Hotels of the World.

After 4 nights we moved to the Sani Resort which consists of 4 hotels along a nice sandy area of beach. The Sani Beach Hotel with over 400 rooms, the 5 star Sani Beach Club with 205 rooms, the 5* deluxe Boutique Hotel Asterias Suites with about 50 rooms or the 5* deluxe Porto Sani Village with about 100 rooms. I chose the latter as I prefer a smaller hotel. The resort is great for families offering a wide range of accommodation from interconnecting rooms to one and two bedroom suites. Crèche from 4 months upward and children’s clubs from 4 years. Lots of sports and entertainment across the resort. A central Marina with a large choice of restaurants so you do not have to eat in the hotels all the time if you don’t want to.

Opinion. A large very well run and maintained resort. Great for families. Staff extremely good and helpful. I would definitely visit again.

St Lucia with Suzi & Chantal

In November, Suzi and Chantal spent the week in St Lucia experiencing the island with the Saint Lucian Tourist Board. Some fabulous times were had whilst visiting hotels and partaking in various activities.

Our journey began when we flew out of Gatwick with British Airways, it was a great flight on which we enjoyed the choice of food and entertainment. The transfer took about an hour and a half to the lively area of Rodney Bay by coach but to half your journey you could upgrade to a helicopter transfer, what a way to start your holiday!

A typical Caribbean evening was spent eating and drinking as the sun went down and the music played at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort , we stayed up late this evening, not only to have one more rum punch but to combat the jet lag so that we were fresh to enjoy our next action packed day. Our first fabulous adventure was horse riding along the beach, this may not be an excursion for the less adventurous or first time rider.

Although we didn’t have time to fit a sedgeway trip in, the compliments couldn’t have been higher for this. It suits all ages and included amazing views with delicious refreshing fruit drinks and snacks.

Zip wiring through the rain forest was by far my favourite few hours spent swinging through the trees but the aerial tram was a slightly more relaxing way to see the sights from a different angle!

We visited and stayed in a diverse range of hotels from Ti Kaye where we arrived by boat to a trendy yet deluxe property set amongst the trees looking down to the sea with water sports a plenty. We dined on lobster and champagne in the elegant and beautiful property Calabash where the moment you arrive you see the most breath taking views through their restaurant down over the pool to the glistening Caribbean Sea. Cap Maison is ideal for the discerning client looking for more than just a hotel room in a luxury villa type style accommodation, the chef provided us with a lunch to rival all lunches. The Body Holiday is of course perfect for those who wish to have their spa treatments included in their all inclusive holiday price. We all fell in love with the romance of Rendezvous , another all inclusive property, for adults only who love the sophistication of chandeliers in trees! But if you are looking for the X factor you would find Jade Mountain hard to beat with each residence only having 3 walls with the 4 ^th left open integrating the accommodation with the dramatic panorama. It’s sister property Anse Chastanet boasts the Caribbean beach you dream of.

St Lucia really does have something for everyone from a laying on the beach being pampered in the spa holiday to a non stop fun packed family holiday with nightlife and stunning scenery and culinary delights – let us find you a St Lucian holiday!

Africa with Titan Travel & Longleat Safari Park

I was lucky enough to be invited by Titan Travel to a fantastic VIP Africa event at Longleat Safari Park. The day started with arrival refreshments followed by an inspiring presentation by Mr Stuart Douglass-Lee (Head of Products). He spoke in depth about the 8 itineraries that Titan have on offer for 2013/14

The Best Of South Africa offers 19 days from Johannesburg to Capetown including 16 excursions and visits among which you have lunch at an ostrich farm, 4-game drives at Mala Mala Game Reserve and visiting the penguins at Boulders Beach.

Our VIP day ended with an amazing 2-hour private tour of Longleat Safari Park which included feeding the giraffes. We were taken unbelievably close to Rhinos, Lions and Tigers and of course saw the cheeky antics of the monkeys in the ‘Monkey Drive thru’ – a most memorable experience.
